Description

A relaxed, creative introduction to handbuilding pottery – no previous experience needed.

Join me for a 6-week handbuilding pottery course in North County Dublin, designed for complete beginners and anyone looking for a creative hobby and a little time away from everyday life.

We’ll meet for five relaxed, hands-on sessions in my small independent ceramics studio on Tuesday evenings. You’ll learn the basics of working with clay while making your own pieces to glaze and fire.

This is not a formal ceramics qualification or an intensive technical course. It’s about learning through making, experimenting with clay and enjoying the process.

What’s included?

Your course fee includes:

  • 5 × 1.5–2 hour handbuilding pottery sessions
  • All clay and materials used during the course
  • Use of studio tools and equipment
  • Glazes
  • Bisque and glaze firing
  • Guidance and individual help throughout the course
  • Up to 3–4 favourite pieces fired and finished for you to take home

There will be one week without class while your work is being bisque-fired. Your pieces will then be ready for our final glazing session.

You don’t need any prior experience or equipment before the course.

Optional clay tool kit

If you’d like to continue working with clay at home after the course, a basic clay tool kit will be available to purchase for €15. This is completely optional.

Who is this ceramics course for?

This beginner-friendly handbuilding pottery course is for anyone who would like to try working with clay in a relaxed, informal setting.

You might be:

  • completely new to ceramics
  • looking for a new creative hobby
  • interested in handmade crafts
  • looking for something enjoyable to do after work
  • looking for a creative midweek activity
  • someone who has tried pottery before and would like to explore handbuilding

You don’t need to be “artistic”, and you don’t need to arrive with a finished idea of what you want to make.

I’ll guide you through the process and show you different ways of working with clay, while leaving plenty of room for you to make the pieces your own.
