A Little Time for Yourself: New Ceramics Workshops This Autumn

When I first decided to run regular ceramics classes in my little studio, I had a few doubts.

Would I be able to keep the sessions interesting? Would everyone enjoy themselves? Would two hours really be enough?

Well, I’m halfway through my first round of 6 Weeks of Clay, and I’m happy to say that I’m loving it.

The two hours seem to fly by. We’re making things, trying new techniques, figuring things out as we go, and occasionally getting completely carried away with clay.

One of my favourite moments so far was hearing someone say how much they loved the feeling of their mind switching off while working with clay.

And honestly, that’s exactly the kind of experience I hoped to create.

So, I’ve Added Another Course!

The first two 6 Weeks of Clay courses sold out, and after all the lovely interest and messages asking about another date, I’ve opened a third group starting this November.

It’s a relaxed, beginner-friendly introduction to handbuilding ceramics. We’ll explore pinching, coiling and slab building, experiment with textures and shapes, and make our own pieces to glaze and take home.

You don’t need any previous experience, and you don’t need to be particularly artistic. This isn’t about making perfect pottery. It’s about trying something new, enjoying the process and giving yourself a little time away from the everyday.

The next course starts on Tuesday 3 November and runs until 8 December 2026. We’ll meet for five evening sessions in my studio in Balbriggan, with a week in between for firing our work.

The group is limited to five people, so everyone has room to experiment and get a bit of individual guidance.

Fancy Something a Little More Festive?

I know a six-week course isn’t for everyone. Sometimes you just want to try something creative for an afternoon or evening without committing to several weeks.

That’s why I’m also planning seasonal workshops for November, including a Christmas wreath-making workshop.

Think of it as a little creative break before the Christmas rush — a chance to make something by hand, enjoy the process and perhaps discover a new hobby along the way.

The wreath workshop details will be announced soon, but you can join the waiting list to hear about dates and bookings first.

Come and Make Something With Me

My little studio is a space for making things by hand, trying ideas, learning as we go and accepting that not everything needs to be perfect.

It’s where I make my own ceramics inspired by the Irish coastline, and it’s lovely to be able to share that space with people who want to explore their own creativity, too.

If you’ve been thinking about trying pottery, or simply fancy doing something different this autumn, I’d love to welcome you.

A little clay, a little creativity, and a couple of hours just for yourself. What could be better?
